Small businesses do not need an “AI stack.” They need a handful of tools that remove expensive or repetitive work. This guide starts with jobs to be done, then matches the software to them.
Best AI tools by job
| Job | Tools worth evaluating |
|---|---|
| General assistant and analysis | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini |
| Research and answer discovery | Perplexity and general assistants with web access |
| Business video | Synthesia, VEED, Pictory, Descript |
| Marketing content workflows | Writesonic and general-purpose assistants |
| Workflow automation | Make and other automation platforms with AI capabilities |
The rule we use
Start with the bottleneck. If a tool cannot save meaningful time, improve output quality or enable work you could not reasonably do before, adding it to the stack is probably just another subscription.
AI assistants
ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are all serious general-purpose options. Growth Reviewed does not currently receive an affiliate commission for ranking any of them, and we will not downgrade a non-paying tool simply to favor an affiliate partner.
AI video
For repeatable business video, start with our AI video buyer guide. Synthesia and Pictory are currently affiliate partners, while VEED and Descript remain editorial-only until their applications are resolved.
AI marketing tools
Writesonic is one tool we are evaluating for future coverage. Its affiliate application is pending, so there is no tracked commercial link on this page yet.
AI plus automation
Sometimes the highest-value AI workflow is not another chatbot. It is connecting an existing model or AI feature to the systems where work already happens. Our Make review and workflow automation guide cover that layer.
How Growth Reviewed ranks AI tools
- Buyer fit before commission size.
- No hands-on claim unless we genuinely tested the product.
- Official pricing and feature sources for factual claims.
- Clear separation between editorial links and affiliate CTAs.
- Updates when plans, limits or partner status change.
